Odd and thankfully short...

Imprint is a novella as written by a soul. The soul is the accumulation of many lifetimes spent on earth, but in its quest for enlightenment, the soul must learn to accept all the hard lessons from those previous lives and so goes in search of his 'Soul Journal' - a portal that will take the soul back into the flesh and blood past to re-experience those lives.

There is the basis of a horror novel somewhere in here, but unfortunately it fails to translate from the author's imagination to the page. There is a distinct lack of descriptive prose and the narrative is mildly confusing at times. There are occult beliefs that are sprinkled throughout, which are an interesting insight into this area, but only serve to detract from the fluidity of the story. The characterisations are poorly defined and not enough time is spent building atmosphere, which means that on all counts this book fails miserably.
