Release Date: 4th Oct 2010Cut out fun that is over too quickly...
Is it that time of year already? Paper Angels is essentially an arts and crafts book aimed at helping youngsters create paper angels. And there’s nothing wrong with that, perhaps with the exception that there are only four or five angels to make and by doing so you inevitably ruin the feel of the book itself.
There is a story that goes along with the paper angel theme, although it is rather incidental, it does benefit from a warm, fuzzy glow that comes with Christmas territory. As a one-off activity book, it is a nice touch having a heart-warming story about paper angels and how to be selfless at Christmas time. But, and it is a big but here – a third of the book is the cut outs themselves and once these are gone, you suddenly feel short changed.
Paper Angels is aimed at those who don’t really dabble in artsy activities and wouldn’t know where to start. For the rest of us, it should be obvious that you’d be better off spending the cash on lots of crafty goodies – and make up your own story.
