Release Date: 6th Jul 2009Meet the crazy creatures from Harry Potter...
From the mildly dangerous Ghoul to the deadly Lethifold, Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them is an entertaining and informative romp into the background world of Harry Potter. With the odd scribbling from Harry and friends, Fantastic Beasts makes you feel like you are right there at Hogwarts, learning about various amazing creatures (and their relative level of threat).
Whilst perhaps only the most ardent Potter fans will be interested, it also demonstrates the incredibly detailed world that J K Rowling created around Harry Potter. Interestingly, not all the creatures mentioned make an appearance in her novels; although perhaps this can be attributed to the fact that very few beasts are pivotal to the plots. Of course, those that we recall from the novels are in here: Acromantula, Hippogriff, Basilisk, Centaur, Merpeople and Dragons- although the actual degree of information was slightly disappointing; if you have read the books or watched the films – then you will not learn anything more about these creatures from this book.
Carefully written with an introduction by Dumbledore, Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them sticks rigidly to the imaginative world of Harry Potter. Fans absolutely must have this book, others will simply enjoy delving into an exciting world where the likes of Japanese water demons (Kappa) and bogey-eating Puffskein exist.
