Brilliantly catchy and irreverently funny...

Willis brought us Bottoms Up, which was outrageously funny and exceptionally rude but in a bottom-appreciative way. Now, it seems that Willis is not done with applauding the virtues and differences of the plethora of bottoms out there because Sing a Song of Bottoms is precisely what is claims to be – a veritable singsong exclaiming the wondrous diversity presented by exploring the world’s creatures and their bums!

Willis and Stower are an inimitable team; together they provide a visual and literary delight with the sumptuous illustrations, splashes of colour and rhyming text that builds to a crescendo that is sure to have your little ones screaming with glee.

For parents less concerned about introducing their children to the joy and wonder of reading and more about the educational value and mental stimulation a book has to offer: do not despair. For despite its ruinous plaudits for the bottoms of many animals, such as the freaky ones of Martians, or the trumpy ones of elephants; children will learn about key characteristics of each animal. And fair enough, we don’t know that Martians exist – but surely encouraging a child’s imagination is part of the Good Parenting Handbook? What can we say? We’re a sucker for anything that even whiffs of naughtiness and we love that Willis has taken it upon herself to dispel the taboo of talking about our bums. Besides, it is extremely gratifying to know that our bottom is the best one around!
