Release Date: 2nd Jul 2009You will fall in love with this - it's impossible not to!
The cover of this children’s book has the charm of an old teddy bear that you used to cling to as a child; it summons up nostalgia and a wistful longing for a return to innocence. Whilst this may not immediately draw the eye of your young one; it will certainly grab your attention as a parent – and joyfully, for good cause!
Exquisitely illustrated; the story a lilting, skipping and tripping through the various animals one might find in the jungle coupled with delicate prose overflowing with tenderness and a soothing rhythm as you count up from one to ten – It was Bedtime in the Jungle is stunning, enchanting, gorgeous, beautiful and heart-warming. Those of a less fuzzy disposition may find it a little nauseating, a little triple-choc dunked in honey; but personally, I just adore this book. To me, this is the perfect summertime story to slowly unwind your child ready for sleep.
Not only does Butler have an uncanny knack for turning out a wonderfully simple yet effervescent prose, but he is also an incredibly talented illustrator. Any parent would be foolish not to buy and cherish this handsome book – and you may just find that shelling out the extra for the hardback version is well worth the investment although, you may now struggle to hold yourselves back until then.
