Will Lizzie be able to free her mermaid mother from the awful mermaid Queen?

Lizzie is back and once again caught up in the ongoing drama of the Mermaid Curse series... this time, she has to help free her mother from the wicked mermaid Queen, Toran, by giving up the silver pearl... the question is: will the queen keep her promise, and will Lizzie's sister, Rose, discover Lizzie's secret life at last?

In, The Rainbow Pool, we see the evil mermaid Queen become even more powerful as she finds a way to claim the silver pearl. All she needs now is the final coloured and most powerful of all the pearls - the black pearl. As we know, Jack (Lizzie's real father), is the keeper of that pearl - but it doesn't take long for the queen to figure this out. In her rage, she sends her servant, Tullor, after the trawling boat, which is carrying Jack and the black pearl - only for Tullor to be captured himself! The noxious conger eel gets his just desserts in a nice little aside to the overall plot... but will he be captive forever?

A powerfully light read, this series still manages to entertain and keep you coming back for more. I still believe it would work far better if the series had been made into fewer individual books, as the plot is only a bitesize and therefore not entirely satisfying. But I really don't have anything bad to say about the Mermaid Curse series - it is delightful and bound to capture the hearts of young girls everywhere!
