Release Date: 2nd Apr 2008Up in the Tree is the first picture book Atwood published back in 1978 and has not been published in the UK until now – I cannot for the life of me understand why it has taken so long for this whimsical and enchanting children’s book to come to our shores.
Quintessential Atwood, even the palette limitation of just 2 colours does nothing to dent to simple honesty of this beautiful tale – indeed, if anything, it only adds to the innocence and understated modesty of what it essentially a classic children’s book.
It is a rarity that a book does exactly what it says on the back cover – Atwood does not disappoint and I can only assume that those responsible at Bloomsbury are patting themselves on the back for having finally brought such a little treasure to our bookshelves.
