A legendary treasure, an insane millionaire and two children standing in his way...

King Akanon is about to set sail to lay siege to Troy along with thousands of Greek warriors. It is a pivotal moment in history, and despite his young years, he is determined to ensure his sister's safety whilst he is gone. He shows her a map made from four pieces of clay that will lead to a fabulous treasure beyond anything the world has ever witnessed before and assures her that he will instruct her as to the whereabouts of the keys to open the treasure once he has left Greek shores. But his journey was never to bear fruit and as his ship goes down, so too does the knowledge of that great treasure.

Callie and Nick are on holiday with their parents in Greece, although with their Archaeologist parents, a holiday is never quite that straight forward. This time is no different, and with their parents acting bizarrely, Callie and Nick are determined to get to the bottom of it. Unfortunately, so is wealthy Skatelios, a local, hell bent on discovering the King's lost treasure. When Skatelios's patience wears thin and he takes the drastic action of storming their holiday villa; Callie and Nick have to make a snap decision: try to find the legendary treasure alone or risk getting them all killed.

Aimed at pre-teens, Greek Ransom is an action-packed tumble through Greek countryside, with demented henchmen, dogs, and an insanely obsessed millionaire on the heels of Callie and Nick. A tight plot and a thundering pace carry the reader along, and despite the fact that it is inevitable that all will end well, the journey is stimulating and clever.

This is an action packed adventure story set on the fictional Greek island of Thelta. Not only is it full of adventurous situations, but the author is excellent at describing everything the characters see and do in the unravelling of the plot.
The story follows Callie and Nick while they are trying to save their mum and dad from a Greek psychotic millionaire. Michael Malaghan puts false avenues to get you excited and then even more excited. The author does iinclude humour by putting "the last family to board the coach seemed to have bought every souvenir in Thelta town, including two inflatable turtles" and by saying that Nick names his dog Skatelios after the psychotic millionaire chasing them!
I liked the adventure in "Greek Ransom" and how he hooks you by encouraging you to read on. I would recommend this book for people from 8 years old upwards. I also think his choice of words sets the scene fantastically. (Craig Hadden Aged 10 years)
