A new baby is strange, odd even... but that's ok.

This striking book concerns the universal parental worry about how an older sibling will react when a new baby comes home. Of course, the real fear deep down is that your little angel will turn into a little monster: resentment, jealousy, anger, rejection, confusion... No question about it, bringing home a new baby is hard work.
Alfie is a wonderfully quirky young boy. He is absolute in what he likes, right down to the precise order of his favourite things; all of which centre around Aliens, Space, Rocket ships and the Moon. When his new sister, Ruby, arrives home, he switches off whenever his parents start talking about her, preferring instead to think his own thoughts about outer Space. So consumed by his own imagination, he only really hears words that resonate with his personal interests and when he hears: “Moon” and “Space”, it doesn’t take him long to realise that Ruby must be an alien!

My Sister is an Alien offers an unusual tack when it comes to dealing with introducing a new family member. Looking from Alfie’s perspective, we are guided through his child’s logic – Ruby looks, acts and smells like an Alien therefore she must be one. And all that crying must mean that she is unhappy and wants to go home. But despite wanting to make Ruby happy, Alfie is just not sure he can leave her back on the Moon.

A bright, sparkling book that encourages kindness, but most of all teaches little ones that life just wouldn’t be the same without that silly, weird, odd-looking, constantly-crying sister or brother.
