Release Date: 1st Sep 2008A gorgeous little book that will enchant its readers...
Madame Pamplemousse and her Incredible Edibles reads like a classic fairytale for children. Exquisitely illustrated, it is a charming tale of a young girl who is forced to work for her wicked and particularly greasy uncle, aptly named Monsieur Lard. Madeleine spends her summers away from her selfish and uninterested parents working in Monsieur Lard's awful restaurant, where he bullies and intimidates all his staff and demands that they produce disgusting dishes.
When Madeleine whimsically decides to follow a strange white cat, she finds herself inside a dark and shabbily dressed shop full of exotic smelling delicacies - the culinary results of the mysterious Madame Pamplemousse. Instead of purchasing the foul pate her uncle usually serves in his terrible restaurant, Madeleine finds herself in possession of one of Madame Pamplemousse's intriguing dishes. Forced to serve this to her uncle's customers in place of the normal pate, it becomes immediately evident that she has stumbled across a remarkable recipe. Her devilish uncle comes up with an odious plan to boost his own reputation by passing off Madame Pamplemousse's food as his own and sends Madeleine to discover the secret ingredients by working in her shop.
Faced with the prospect of becoming wealthier than his wildest dreams, Monsieur Lard is determined to ruin Madame Pamplemousse and take all the credit for her delicious recipe himself. Madeleine has to learn that she has the courage to stand up to her evil uncle and stop him from destroying her new friends.
An enchanting story about greed, courage and doing the right thing; Madame Pamplemousse and her Incredible Edibles is a wonderful little book that will captivate and warm the heart.
