Release Date: 18th Oct 2007The definitive guide to your digestive system.. for children
Being often referred to as “yuck” “icky” or “gross” myself, I found it rather refreshing and actually quite flattering that those were the adjectives that summed up this fantastically original pop-up book. Don’t let the phrase “pop-up” beguile you into false and foolhardy assumptions. No – for this is indeed one of the most pleasurable children’s books that I have been coerced into reading for many, many years.
Eons ago, this would have shone as brightly from the humdrum – the glorious illustrations and riot of colour aside – this hefty book actually interacts and teaches your child (and you).
Admittedly, at first glance it would appear that all they are learning are adult names for bottom, but there are other gems such as “salivary glands”, “oesophagus” and “enzymes” too. Disgusting close-ups and nasty fact files on poo are sure to keep any child riveted to this book. To my shame, it has done nothing to dissuade me from my favourite elevenses – poo. Yum Yum.
