Annuals appear to have dropped in terms of popularity over recent years, when I was younger, I remember it being a huge deal to get any annual – but with the ever growing technological advances and popular games, old fashioned means of playing are becoming outdated. Children over a certain age might not seem that bothered about annuals – but as a parent, you just can’t beat them. They offer structured play time with your youngsters that you can both enjoy.
From an educational viewpoint, they have their advantages too as you can take the opportunity to read to your children in small, bite-sized chunks. Such introductions to reading at a tender age has got to be a positive experience and may well lead your child into having a love affair with books of its own. As a Words Worm, I simply have to advocate anything that might create a new generation of book lovers.
Vivre l'annual!
Oh, and this might sound a little odd – but I simply adore the squidgy front cover, it reminds me of my Aunt Petunia...
